Ideas for Ardour

Write down your ideas for how to change to Ardour for the better.

I hope they add ardour production tools

I state that I do not know if this is the right section of the forum.
I believe that after the ineserimento the midi and the various versions 3.x, ardor should start thinking a little bit has to offer tools geared to the production of music, is the future of music is being born of programs for Linux that implement new features , is an illustration bitwig study.
I think it's time for ardor to grow in the direction of production.

Ardroid

I tried ardroid and although it lacks some functions to make it perfect it works nicely. But it was last updated in March 2011. The author's website links to ardour, so I hope it is OK to ask here whether it will be further developed? I am hoping it will.

Props and Question

First, props for the project. I'm really looking forward to a potential Win version but the work to date for Linux has been pretty well done IMO. Not sure where you guys find the time. :)

Anyway, the question is related to windowing. As I look through some open douce offerings like they all seem to have one thing in common, the windowing. There doesn't seem to be any with a more consolidated window design and I wonder why that is. Is there any chance of Aurdour taking on a more consolidate design in the future with docked editors and all that?

Thanks. Great job guys.

but it would be easier ....

Surface

Is it possible to give it (to Ardour) more "SSL Duality-like" surface?
Mix window of Ardour with a "control center, routing and so on";
It would be nice.
Also channel strip.
I see isolate (solo) in 3.0 is in, is this a "sign" of ssl-izing the GUI?

Annyway THX a lott.

Mixer-GUI: PlugIn-controls visible in channel-strips ...

... like mixbus is doing this: Controls would quickly be noticeable/ editable.

Think, this would be a nice option, especially for live-recording or live-sound-reinforcement. A plus in tight situations.

Dry/wet fader for plugins

I'd like to have an option to add a dry/wet crossfader for plugin effects. This would especially come in handle for automating effects.

Say I have a plugin with multiple controllers adjusted how I want, and I want this to apply with automation in the track. For now, I think this either can be achieved only by automating all the controllers individually, or using an external bus and/or a crossfader plugin.

I know Jackrack and LMMS have this feature.

Small gui-change suggestion

If I open the settings for a standard ardour plugin with the regular plugin gui, I can move a few "drawbars" and toggle some other settings.

If I toggle a setting, it will likely change color to indicate the status of that toggle but the change is only visible if I move my mouse away from the toggle.

I think that is a bad way to handle the color.

My opinion is that the color should be showing the correct status regardless mouse hovering or not.

Btw. I'm using A3 Beta1 under xbuntu 11.10

ARM support

Ok this might be far future but it would be interesting to know the developers view on Ardour ARM ports and touch interface capability.

Linux VST list

With time could the "Plugins" section on Ardour be expanded to included Linux VST ones.
