How do I .... ?

i am on osx lion and ardour 2.8.12. ardour seems to be completely unresponsive for any osc/midi. i am desperately trying to to get the play/stop transport functions to sync up with other software for recording but it's not possible.

I'm very new to this so please excuse my question if it has a really simple answer.

I want to connect two wireless headphone/mics together so everyone can talk/hear in real time. I also want to be playing an mp3(one or more) that everyone hears.

Can I do this with Ardour? or even without on my Mac running Snow Leopard.

I find I often want the same 5 or 6 plugins on a mixer strip. For instance, almost every dry bass track I record gets the same set of plugins (and nearly same settings) when I mix it. Is there a way to save that "plug-in stack" as a "preset" so I can load the group all at once? I do use the preset feature in several of the individual plugins to make this faster, but I'd like to do the whole set of plugins at once.

I have a question about getting a mono signal out of Mixbus. Ardour2/3 have individual L/R panners which you can set to center to get mono. Mixbus just seems to have a dial to pan L or R. I have figured out various ways to get mono with Mixbus, though I wonder if there are easier ways.

One method would be to pan full to L or R and then everything is in one channel which is mono.

I have an external drive that is not allowing me access to my own material I have saved to it. I have been able to sometimes log in terminal 'gksudo nautulis' and bring some files to ardour, but they are only partial and it is temporary. how do I permanently change permissions on my drive that says I am not owner and can't change permissions?

I was told that there is a way to setup a bus in ardour for the lexicon mpx550 effects processor and then connect the desired channels/inputs to that bus. Not sure how to do it. So far I have managed to get a feedback loop (loud signal) when sending to my Focusrite saffire pro inputs and then returning back to the lexicon on the left output. hope i'm describing it correctly. I also was hoping it might work via the spdif cables.

i'm looking into adjusting the width of track control/header panel on the left of the interface (right of the editor mixer and the height slider), the bit which has names on and the quick access record/solo buttons etc.

firstly it doesn't seem possible to just drag it as you can do with the height of the tracks...i've searched 'width' in the xml file and can only find references to 'strip_width' which isn't what i want, looked through menus and tried some of the key combinations that i could think of all to no avail

I'm completely new to this forum and the whole recording game, but I'm looking to set up my own very small home studio to record my own stuff, which will mostly just be guitars and vocals. I'm keen to use Linux and hardware that explicitly has Linux support via my laptop.

My original thoughts were to go with a USB interface, but reading on this forum the consensus seems to be that USB is very poor for audio recording because of latency issues. Firewire seems to be more favourably reviewed but has its own issues.

have record several takes on the same track, as usual, and like to choose between the takes.

When right clic and "choose region on top" the pop up list of the takes appears, but I can't change the top region.

Yesterday it worked, and I don't think anything was changed in options or whatever :(

Did someone here have seen that before ?

Oh, it's Ardour2 revision 10146, and the region is not locked, have even try to reboot

guessing we can't control eq and compressor setting with osc? have to use osculator to change to midi?

any help would be much appreciated.
