Is there a way to lock Markers to bar/beat instead of a point in time?

I've just made a project and I've laid all the parts of the song out using markers (verse, chorus etc) and then I decided I want the song to be faster. But when I change the tempo the markers don't move with the bar/beat they stay at the same point in time (mins:secs). Is there a way to change this so they will stay at the same bar/beat instead?

And, as if by magic, it has now been implemented in Ardour 3. Doesn't help you right now, but it is coming.
